How much does Etsy take per sale?+
In the US: a $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% of the item price plus shipping, and 3% + $0.25 payment processing. On a $30 order that's about $3.10. If the sale came from Offsite Ads, add 15% (or 12% for bigger shops).
Is the transaction fee charged on shipping too?+
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and payment processing are charged on the whole order — item price plus the shipping you charge. That's why free shipping with a higher price costs the same in fees.
What are Offsite Ads fees?+
When a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on Google, Instagram and similar and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of that order (max $100). Shops that sold over $10,000 in the past year pay 12% and can't opt out.
What margin should a print-on-demand shop aim for?+
Many POD sellers aim for 25–40% after all fees, leaving room for Etsy Ads and sales. Use the target price above to see what that means for your product.
Does this include sales tax or VAT?+
No. Etsy collects and pays sales tax in most US states and VAT for many countries — it isn't your income, so it's left out.
